Wood’s research focuses on racial equity in education with a specific focus on early childhood education and community colleges. In particular, his research examines contributors to positive outcomes for Black students and men of color. With Frank Harris III, Wood coined the phrase “racelighting” to refer to interpersonal experiences with racism that lead BIPOC to second-guess their experiences, perceptions, contributions, and realities.
